The Scuba Schools Group

Club Dives and Activities

Our 'club' doesn't have any required meetings or membership rolls that take up valuable time that could be spent underwater, we just go diving and have fun! We would love to have you join us on any of the dives, meetings/socials or any of the other events. Please let us know if you have any questions or suggestions for what we might plan next. All activities are free, unless otherwise noted.

Our Club shore dives are free, no cost dives open to all divers (Unless the dive site has entry fees) who have experience diving in cold water. Please come join us, we look forwards to meeting you or seeing you again! Cold water experience means you know how to dive in at least a 7mm wetsuit or drysuit - if you got certified in this area or down in Monterey, you have that experience!.  If you are new to cold water diving we ask that you go out for a day of diving with one of our staff to get acquainted with the buoyancy of the thick suits and figure out your weighting, after that you would be welcome to join our shore and boat dives.

Each diver needs to bring all necessary gear to the beach with them. You can meet us at the shop at the designated time to carpool/pick up tanks & weights only (Please come earlier if you need other gear), or you can meet us at the site with all theyour gear.

Our dive staff will be on site to give you an overview of the dive site and lend you a hand if you need it, but these are not guided, supervised or instructional dives. The dive site
descriptions are not meant to be used as any type of dive advice, or guarantee that it is suitable to the level of any particular diver. It is general info and recommendations only. Doing your own research is great, and knowing your own abilities and skill level is even better, and you should always be sure that you and your buddy(s) are comfortable doing a dive before you embark upon it.

Be sure to check in with our staff and sign in if you are participating in our club dive. You don't have any excuse now not to go diving.  It's free!

2010 Dives & Activities

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Club Shore Dive/Winter BBQ & Rescue Day - Alki Junkyard- February 28
~~~~ BBQ/Club Dive open to all divers with cold water experience, must be Rescue Diver certified to participate in the rescue practice~~~~
Times: Rescue practice - 9:00am at the school or 10:00am at the beach. Club Dive BBQ - 11:00am at the school or noon at the beach. Dive staff will be at the beach until ~ 5.
Club Dive/BBQ info: Bring something to throw on the BBQ and come join us for a couple of dives at one of our favorite sites, just around the corner from the Coves in West Seattle. There is a line paralleling the beach in 45 - 55ft of water (Depending on the tide) that has piles of debris along it. Over the years life has attached to this debris to create a series of little artificial reefs. At the end of your dive you can swim along your safety stop in the shallows while enjoying the eelgrass beds, prime habitat for baby fish, Pacific Spiny Lumpsuckers, gunnels and snake pricklebacks, or you can spend your whole dive in the eelgrass, the old sawed off piliings in about 15' of water right in front of the condos are our favorite part of the dive. We will have a tent/shelter set up.
Rescue Day info: Calling all Rescue divers! Come refresh your dive rescue skills with your fellow divers. A number of our instructors and staff will be out this day, come join us, we will do a number of rescue scenarios - from distressed divers at the surface to missing divers with everything in between. After our hard work rescuing each other, we will refuel with some great BBQ food and some fun dives!
